NEO Literacy Corps provides an opportunity to make a big difference in your life and in the lives of those in your community. It’s a chance to apply your skills and ideals toward helping others and meeting critical literacy needs in Cuyahoga County.

As an AmeriCorps Member, you will receive a wealth of benefits.  Perhaps the biggest benefit you will experience when you join AmeriCorps is the satisfaction of incorporating service into your life and making a difference in your community and in your country.

NEO Literacy Corps is looking for passionate individuals committed to serving for 11 months to address critical literacy needs in Northeast Ohio. Throughout their service, AmeriCorps volunteers build on their training and deepen relationships as they improve their skills in volunteer management, teamwork, and community-based literacy services.

In addition, full-time AmeriCorps Members receive a living stipend of $12,100 as well as program-provided health care coverage. Each full-time AmeriCorps member who successfully completes a term of service will receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award valued at $5550. You can use your Segal AmeriCorps Education Award to pay educational expenses at qualified institutions of higher education, for educational training, or to repay qualified student loans. (Half-time positions are also available.)

As an AmeriCorps member, you will gain valuable experience that translates directly into job experience in your chosen field. You will learn teamwork, communication, responsibility, and other essential skills. Many individuals find their AmeriCorps year provides them with more experience and skills than they would have gotten in a traditional job.
